When we met, one thing became clear faster than you can say “maple syrup”: Canada was the destination. The plan to move from Europe had been years in the making; the suitcases just needed their cue.
Somewhere along the way, a former neighbour in Ostermundigen (or was it Maja and Esther?) said, “You should be on a TV show.” I shrugged: Do we even have enough content? Also, which channel runs the Swiss version of “Extreme Life Choices”?

Cut to a few months into our new Canadian chapter and… yes, we have content. Acres of it. Literally. Add a 10-month-old baby, an international move, and an acreage that seems to sprout projects the way dandelions sprout in spring—and boredom has politely excused itself from the premises.

The downside of “never boring” is “always busy,” which makes keeping in touch with friends and family from afar harder than it should be. Hence, this blog: our way to capture the chaos, the small wins, and the very large learning curves (looking at you, well pump).

What you can expect here:
- Snapshots of life on the acreage (equal parts charming and muddy)
- Immigration adventures and admin misadventures
- Baby milestones, often achieved at 5 a.m.
- The odd philosophical musing brought on by too much coffee and not enough sleep
Mostly, we hope this keeps the conversation going—rekindling old connections and maybe sparking a few new ones along the way.
And if you are interested in anything around moving abroad – let us know. Happy to provide some input, wether it is on finding your right immigration lawyer (we were very lucky) or the right logistic provider for flying your horse across the ocean (reco: Quadriga)

With gratitude,
